  • Student Visa (Subclass 571)

    Visa Summary

    This particular visa is suitable for international students applying to study in Australia and whose main course of study is:

    • A primary school course
    • A secondary school course, including junior and senior secondary or
    • An approved secondary school exchange program.

    Note: If the applicant is not a secondary exchange student, the year or level of school study that the applicant intends to undertake must not be a year or level that is more than 18 months below a year or level that the applicant has previously undertaken in Australia or another country.

  • Student Visa (Subclass 580)

    Visa Summary

    This particular visa is suitable for those International students who are studying in Australia on a student visa may require a guardian if they are under 18 years of age. There may also be exceptional circumstances where a student over 18 years of age may need a guardian for religious or cultural reasons.

    Who is this visa for?

    The Student Guardian visa is for foreign nationals applying to stay in Australia as the guardian of a student who is studying in Australia.

    With this visa:

  • Skilled Recognized Graduate (Subclass 476) Overview

    This 18-month temporary visa is for engineering graduates of recognized overseas universities with skills in demand in Australia. Recognized Graduate (subclass 476) visa holders will have unrestricted work and study rights and can apply for a permanent General Skilled Migration or employer sponsored visa at any time.

    The Recognized Graduate (subclass 476) visa will initially be restricted to graduates with a bachelor degree or higher qualification in engineering from a recognized university.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible to apply for a Skilled - Recognized Graduate (subclass 476) visa, applicants must meet certain requirements:

    • The person applying must be under 31 years of age and meet the threshold of competent English
    • The applicant must have completed an Engineering degree qualification or higher at an educational institute recognized by the Government of Australia
    • The applicant must meet all health and character requirements

    Onshore Skilled Permanent Residency Visas are available for Overseas Students who have completed Eligible Study in Australia.

    These visas can only be applied for when the visa applicant is physically in Australia. Upon successful application a Bridging Visa is granted. An applicant must also be in Australia for visa grant under these visa subclasses.

    An overseas student who has completed Eligible Study but is unable to attain the required 120 points on the Points Test, or who does not have an eligible family sponsor willing and able to sponsor them, should consider other visa options which may enable them to extend their stay in Australia with a view to permanent migration.

    The new GSM reforms include the creation of a 18-month Skilled-Graduate (subclass 485) which will allow overseas students to build on their skills and work experience. This visa has unrestricted work rights and provides pathways to permanent residency via the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 885 and Skilled Regional Subclass 887.

    Overseas students can also consider the Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa, the Regional Skilled Migration Scheme (RSMS) and the Temporary Business Long Stay (Subclass 457) visa with a view to applying for an Employer Nomination Scheme visa after two-three years.
